Eons ago I worked for a telecom company where we had Audiocodes gateways (TDM). Such great hardware, great platform. We used something called SS Monitor. I don't know if it was Audiocodes software exactly or 3rd party. In SSMonitor you had a view into how many calls total were on each gateway. With a break out (by colour) how many were in call setup (SS7 IAM) and how many were in actual conversation. You could click on the gateway additionally and get a live view of calls details as they set up and were up. This was real time, if anything maybe 5-10 seconds lag.
Is there something like that in SIP? I suppose one would be doing port mirroring to capture raw (tcpdump), or SNMP polling (where implemented) to get trunk statistics..
Any ideas?
