http://wiki.wdtv.org/doku.php?id=wdtv_firmware_hacks
WD site: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=572
Available for around $100 USD in many locations -
Good video on the device - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3mXZazm6Zw
Out of the box, it allows you to play digital content on your TV from 2 USB devices. USB Hard Drive, USB key, etc.
You can also flash it to work with USB network devices .... thus you can play stuff off your network.
Cool !
The wiki says it can run any of these Linux programs:

Could it run PIAF ?
