For me the extra 4 data sim's per user , 100gb free google drive storage each and international roaming are worth the extra cost. Is the Unlimited $29 really unlimited ?

We all are aware of the fun-and-games played with "unlimited" plans. Here's what I could find: "The unlimited data plan offers 25GB 4G LTE/5G. Your hotspot/tethering speed is slowed down once you've used 5GB of hotspot/tethering. All data plans come with unlimited 2G data after you've used your 4G LTE/5G balance."

I would note that, on non-unlimited plans, your left over data allowance apparently rolls over every month. So, if you were on a 4GB plan and only used 2.8GB, then the next month your account would show 5.2GB available. I'm not aware of any other provider doing that. Once you get above the $5/month plan, you never lose complete Internet connectivity so email and texting would still work... slowly. This is T-Mobile towers, by the way.

So doesn't Fi's $20 35GB (plus the extra stuff) beat Tello's $29 25GB ? of course Fi is on the same towers (and more)

(Apparently 'extra data' is $20/GB on Tello but $10/GB on Fi, so unless my math is wrong, 50GB/month is still $40 on Fi but $529 on Tello and 35GB, $20 on Fi but $229 on Tello)

Has anyone used a visible sim as a data sim for a router? (or do they have a data sim plan I couldn't find?)
What equip did you use and how was your experience with it?
I need internet hotspot for a backyard for the summer via cellular.
Thx.
There is very long list of equipment which will not function on the Visible network. That includes any type of router/hotspot.

There is a shorter list with Fi, my Chinese bison phone for one (but the data only sim works fine in it) the data only SIMs on the same account have also worked on numerous hotspot/routers including $20 ones from ebay and many openwrt routers CAT4, CAT6, CAT12 'modems' with a simple setting of the APN to h2g2. My pixel6 , my wifes pixel7, never a problem of course.

@dicko: The extra data SIMs certainly distinguish the Google Fi solution from the alternatives.

Having previously used both Visible and Mint 'Unlimited' I found them both too limited so for me it's a no-brainer.

Edit:

coincidentally mint just emailed me that it has currently has 40GB "unlimited' for $45/3month then as before

The beauty of those extra SIMs is you could maintain security systems at multiple sites without paying an arm and a leg for full-time Internet service. T-Mobile, by the way, is getting picky about moving their Home Internet Router from place to place. In fact, they just sent me a questionnaire inquiring how much I'd be willing to pay (extra) to move it around. I'm sure they got the idea from Elon and his similar Starlink gimmick.

I guess next they will be wanting you to pay extra to take your cell phone out of the "home area" like the old days of cellular roaming.

I travel internationally so definitely outside my "home area" , I haven't yet found a satisfactory alternative to fi. data is uninterrupted and not subject to any surcharge, inbound calls work within a minute or two after seeing a signal presuming your phone's radio supports the local channel and wifi calling out is basically free, will take a data only sim next time.

I wanna join your plan. Google Fi's pricing page is quite different from what you've quoted unless you have 4 or more people on your plan...

You need to add 3 other 'users' to get the best price, much like Visible used to be

My plan is maxed out but users don't need to be familial.

I wish Fi would behave like AT&T and not care that I use it a bit more in Canada than the US - AT&T allows cross border usage without any restrictions on percentage used in the US. A thinner border with respect to the cellular market would be a big deal up here (our costs are atrocious)

Yep data on the $20 plan costs extra , but no restrictions on the $40 , but isn't AT$T more expensive and limited to NANPA land ?

I believe you will need to originally set up Fi in the states, there are stories of loss of service after 3 months if too much usage is outside the US.
No probs in Ensenada last month or much of Europe last year.

Need 3 to 5 more subscribers. Then we need to decide on the $20 or $40 plan. I prefer the $20 plan:

Unlimited data, calls, and texts within the US, Canada, and Mexico
Unlimited data, with slower data after 35 GB per person
5 GB of hotspot tethering
Free data-only SIMs
Lots of great cellphone deals (including free)

please correct unlimited data from Canada or Mexico for $20 which @atsak noticed, you will need the $40 plan , but then you get 50GB and a hellofalot more countries

I was quoting their plan description. Doesn't say anything about Canada and Mexico not being available on the $20 plan.

So... we need @dhoppy and 2 more pioneers to get started.

indeed, I correct myself,

Data while traveling outside the US, Canada, & Mexico
US,.Mexico Canada no for $20, yes for $40 ( Free in over) 200 destinations
